Romania’s prisons administration hires 1,000 people

24 June 2016

Romania’s National Administration of Penitentiaries (ANP), which got funds of EUR 265.6 million from the state budget this year, has advertised 1,000 positions open to public competition.

These include jobs for security agents, surveillance and escort personnel, administrative staff, and officer psychologists, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

It is the first year after 2006 when ANP has advertised such a large number of positions, open for people outside the system too.

About 7,000 people have already enrolled for the first 700 positions as field agents and officers. The salary of a new field agent reaches up to RON 2,000 (EUR 442). The salary is above the average wage, and the job is safe, said Stefan Teoroc, president of the National Union of Workers of Prisons.
