Romania’s imports and exports go down by over 4%
The exports of Romanian products dropped in July for the first time in the last six months reaching EUR 4.81 billion. Compared to July 2015, the exports were down 4.6%.
Romania’s imports posted a similar evolution, going down by 4.9% in July compared to the same month last year, to EUR 5.45 billion.
As a result, Romania’s trade deficit declined for the second month in a row, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). The deficit amounted to EUR 643 million in July, down 0.7% compared to July 2015.
In the first seven months of the year, the deficit reached EUR 5.11 billion, up almost 30% over the same period in 2014.
The exports amounted to EUR 33 billion between January and July, up 2.9% year-on-year. Imports went up by 5.8% to EUR 38.1 billion.
