Romania's Highways Company awards EUR 98 mln contract for Transylvania highway section

A joint venture made of Italian construction company Astaldi, German firm Max Boegl Romania, and Romanian companies Astalrom and Consitrans have won the tender to build the Ogra - Campia Turzii section of the Brasov - Oradea highway, also known as the Transylvania highway.

The contract’s value is over EUR 98 million, without VAT. Some 75% of the funds come from the EU, and the rest comes from Romania’s Government.

The consortium has four months to design the highway and twelve months to execute the work. The guarantee period is four years.

Italian company Astaldi has had many contracts with the Romanian state. The firm has built the National Stadium, which was completed in 2011, and the Basarab flyover, also completed in 2011. The Italian company is also working on the Bucharest Metro Line 5.
