Romania’s Handball Federation FRH has selected the CEO of one of the top advertising agencies in Romania to lead its new marketing department. The federation aims to reconnect this sport to the general public, partners and sponsors.

"Marketing is essential in today’s sport. Without a marketing department, sport has no future, no matter what sport,” said Alexandru Dedu, president of FRH.

Lorand Balint, the current managing director of advertising agency Leo Burnett, will run FRH’s marketing department. He will continue to manage Leo Burnett.

His main goal will be to think and implement marketing programs that will make handball more popular in Romania.

Balint has 15 years of experience in marketing. He held several positions within Leo Burnett, such as Global Account Director, Regional Account Director Sub-Saharan Africa, Head of Brand Communication and Chief Digital Officer.

He has been the managing director of the advertising company since May 2013. Balint is also an associate professor in the Romanian Canadian MBA Program.
