Romania's Finance Ministry wants to issue more Eurobonds

Romania’s Finance Ministry wants to increase the value of the government bonds issued on foreign markets between 2016 and 2017 by about EUR 2 billion, reports local Profit.ro.

The Government needs more financing in order to cover the budget deficit.

The Finance Ministry wants to issue Eurobonds of about EUR 3 billion this year. It has already issued EUR 1.25 billion worth of bonds on the foreign markets this year, and it will attract another EUR 1.75-2 billion by the end of the year.

The Ministry also plans to issue EUR 2.7-3 billion Eurobonds next year.

In February this year, Romania attracted EUR 1.25 billion on the foreign capital markets, after reopening two bond issues launched last year, due in 2025 and 2035.
