Romania's Finance Ministry negotiates EUR 300 mln loan from EIB

21 April 2016

Romania’s Finance Ministry will negotiate a EUR 300 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The loan will be used to partly cover the state’s contribution to environment investment projects financed with EU funds within the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme.

The Government estimates that the EIB loan facility will help it increase the EU funds absorption level for the 2014-2020 budgeting period.

The investment projects that the Government will co-finance are aimed at developing the infrastructure for water supply, wastewater treatment, and waste management, as well as protecting and conserving biodiversity and managing environmental risks.
