Romania's Cultural Institute spends EUR 55,000 on Book Expo America attendance

The Romanian Cultural Institute ICR allotted a budget of some EUR 55,000 for the country’s participation at Book Expo America BEA, an event organized in New York between May 28 and May 31, reports local Mediafax.

Romania will be present for the first time at the event, with a national stand and a series of events organized by ICR. The event will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, 655 W 34th St. in New York.

BEA, the leading North American book event, gathers over 1,000 exhibitors annually, attracting over 800,000 visitors.

The Romanian events organized by ICR New York and the National Book Centre within ICR are in line with this edition’s main theme, the translation. There will be debates and presentations on translations, translators’ experiences, and presentations of Romanian authors’ volumes translated into English, according to ICR.

Some of the guests are Alistair Ian Blyth, Sean Cotter, Adrian Sahlean, Jill Schoolman, Kendall Storey and Varujan Vosganian.
