Romania's car production goes down 4%, car sales increase 17%

Romania’s national car production dropped by 4.1% in the first quarter of the year to almost 102,000 cars.

Dacia produced some 87,800 cars, 2.3% fewer that in the first three months of 2015, as the Dacia Logan model production halved to 11,700 units and the Dacia Duster output increased by 23%, to 50,300 units.

Ford continued to reduce its B-Max production at Craiova, which went down by 13.7%, to 14,075 units.

Romania’s car exports also went down by 10.7%, to 89,346 units.

Meanwhile, the new vehicle sales on the local market increased by 17.3% to almost 26,000 units, supported by the acquisitions made by companies. The sales of used cars went up by 25.3% in the first three months of 2016.
