The annual inflation rate in Romania remained negative in November, amounting to -0.2%.

By comparison, the inflation in the Eurozone and the European Union increased to 0.6% in November, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

Only six EU member states recorded negative annual inflation rates in November, namely Bulgaria and Cyprus (-0,8%), together with Romania, Ireland, Greece and Slovakia, all with an annual inflation rate of -0.2%.

The highest annual inflation rates were recorded in Belgium (1.7%), the Czech Republic (1.6%), and Malta (1.5%). Compared to October 2016, the annual inflation fell in five member states, remained stable in six states and rose in 17 states.

Data from Romania’s National Statistics Institute (INS) shows that consumer prices measured by the consumer price index (IPC), dropped by 0.7% in November 2016 compared to November 2015.
