Romania’s Alba Iulia joins the League of Historical Cities

Romania’s Alba Iulia will be a part of the League of Historical Cities. The city's councilors have approved earlier this week its accession to the international organization, reports local Agerpres.

The League of Historical Cities encourages the transfer of best practices among its member cities. The organization's goal is to help its members develop and capitalize on their cultural and historical heritage.

More than 100 cities around the world are part of this organization, including Budapest, Brussels, Boston, Barcelona, Athens, Dublin, Geneva, Kyoto, Melbourne, and Mexico City.

Two other Romanian cities are part of the League of Historical Cities, namely Constanta (since 2009) and Iasi (since 1996), according to the organization’s website.
