Romanians spend EUR 8 mln at the seaside during the Pentecost mini holiday

Over 60,000 Romanians spent their Pentecost holiday at the seaside, marking the record of the last 25 years for this holiday, according to the Tourism Employers Federation - FPTR.

People spent about EUR 8 million during the three-day holiday, up 33% compared to the same period last year, reports local Mediafax.

The accommodation tariffs were 25% lower compared to the ones during the summer season. The average prices started from EUR 13.2 per night at a one-star hotel to EUR 22 at a two-star hotel.

For one night in a third-star hotel, people paid on average EUR 33 per night. The price for staying one night in a four-star hotel reached about EUR 66. A family spent on average EUR 22 per day for meals.

The most crowded resorts were the ones in the north of Romania’s Black Sea coast, namely Mamia and Navodari. A lot of tourists also went to the southern resort of Vama Veche, popular for young people and tourists who go camping.
