Romanians can get state money to install eco-friendly heating systems

11 October 2016

Romanians can submit their applications for the “Casa Verde” (Green House) programme starting October 10 to get funds for installing or replacing conventional heating systems with systems that use renewable energy.

The deadline to send the files is October 24 but hundreds of Romanians queued in the first day to be sure their files are accepted for financing.

Companies can submit their applications within the same programme starting October 17.

The programme’s budget for this year amounts to over EUR 30.5 million. Of the total amount, some EUR 13.2 million are for individuals. The equipment financed for individuals via the “Green House” programme are solar panels and heat pumps.

People can get financings of up RON 3,000 (EUR 664) to install unpressurized solar panels, up to RON 6,000 for pressurized solar panels, and up to RON 8,000 (almost EUR 1,800) for heat pumps.

The programme is managed by the Environment Ministry, which also announced it would launch a similar program to finance people who want to insulate their homes with eco-friendly materials in order to reduce energy consumption.
