Romanian truck driver arrested in the U.S. for transporting cocaine worth USD 2 mln

Customs Service agents in the U.S. arrested a Romanian truck driver in Detroit for transporting cocaine worth USD 2 million, reports local Mediafax, citing American media.

The truck driver, who is Romanian but lives in Canada, seemed nervous when the authorities stopped him for a routine check. Following the search, the officers found some 67.8 kg of cocaine in the truck he was driving.

However, the driver said that he was not present when the truck was loaded, and that he believed that he was transporting grapes and figs.

The Romanian is likely to be charged with possession of drugs with intent to deliver.
