Romanian tennis player Simona Halep ends collaboration with Belgian coach Wim Fissette

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, the current number 3 in the WTA ranking of the best women tennis players in the world, decided to end her collaboration with Belgian coach Wim Fissette.

“My collaboration with Wim Fissette will come to an end, following a mutual agreement. It was a good and beautiful year. I want to thank him and wish him good luck in the future,” Halep wrote on her Facebook page.

Halep started working with Fissette in January 2014. At that time, Halep was number 10 in the WTA ranking. Since then, Halep has won two WTA tournaments, in Doha and Bucharest, and played the finals in the Madrid Open, in the Roland Garros grand slam tournament and in the WTA Finals in Singapore. She also made it to the semifinals in Indian Wells and Wimbledon and was number 2 in the WTA ranking for eight weeks in a row.

Former Romanian tennis player Ion Tiriac is currently helping Halep to find another coach for next season, according to Digi 24 news station. Tiriac, one of the richest Romanians, is one of the most respected managers in international tennis. He owns the Madrid Open and has collaborated with some well-known players, such as Ilie Nastase, Guillermo Villas, Boris Becker, Goran Ivanisevic and Marat Safin.
