Romanian tennis player Andreea Mitu wins Futures tournament in Antalya

Romanian tennis player Andreea Mitu won on Monday the USD 15,000 Futures tournament in Antalya, Turkey.

The Romanian won the final match against Turkish Ayla Aksu 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 18 minutes, reports local Agerpres.

In the semifinals, Mitu defeated Turkish Bașak Eraydin 6-2, 6-4. For Andreea Mitu, this was the first tournament she has played since November last year.

Mitu ranks only 238th in the WTA ranking of best women’s tennis players in the world, which is led by American Serena Williams. Simona Halep in the best-ranked Romanian female player, being at number 4 with 5,172 points. She is currently competing in the Indian Wells tournament.
