Romanian team gets EUR 8.5 mln from Euro 2016

The Romanian Football Federation will receive EUR 8.5 million from UEFA for taking part in the Euro 2016 tournament.

Every team that has qualified for Euro 2016 gets EUR 8 million from UEFA. Besides that, Romania will get EUR 0.5 million from the deuce against Switzerland (1-1), reports local Economica.net.

Romania got out of the Euro 2016 with one point after one deuce and two defeats.

The teams earn EUR 1 million for each victory in the group stage. The 16 groups that manage to qualify to the next stage get another EUR 1.5 million. The teams reaching the quarterfinals receive EUR 2.5 million each whereas the bonus for the last four teams amounts to EUR 4 million each.

The finalists will split EUR 13 million, namely EUR 8 million for winning the trophy and EUR 5 million for the group that ranks second. In total, the winner can get up to EUR 27 million compared to a maximum prime of EUR 23.5 million in Euro 2012.

The total prizes in the Euro 2016 tournament amount to EUR 301 million compared to EUR 194 million at the tournament from four years ago.
