Romanian senator Radu Berceanu (in picture) is to retire from politics and will not campaign for reelection, instead he plans to build his own airplane. The Democratic Social Party (PDL) senator said his decision was not motivated by his party’s fall from power, claiming that he had already made the decision in December 2011, well before the Social Liberal Union (USL) took over government.
On his retirement from politics, Senator Berceanu, also a former minister, said that it was time for new faces in the Romanian political scene and in the Parliament, and that after his nearly 23 years as a politician and an MP, it was time to bow out.
He has said that building a small airplane he designed is among his retirement plans and will be the fulfillment of a long held ambition. His future plans also include building an airplane factory.
