15 December 2016

Superkombat, the best-known contact sports competition in Europe, managed by Romanian promoter Eduard Irimia, signed a deal with American television CBS Sports Network.

Based on this agreement, CBS Sports will broadcast six Superkombat events, next year, in the U.S. and Canada. Each gala will include both international and American athletes in playoff matches in the heavyweight category as well as world titles in various categories.

Besides the kickboxing challenges, the events will also include MMA fights.

“We are very pleased to have CBS Sports Network as a television partner and to have our brand presented to the U.S. market. After six years of live broadcast, galas in 95 countries in 5 continents, and commentary in 22 languages, we are proud to bring the product to another level,” said Eduard Irimia, president of Superkombat.

The Superkombat circuit was launched in 2011 and has grown into one of the world’s top kickboxing organizations. The company had its first events in Romania, but has increased its international presence over the years, including a show last year in Puerto Rico.

A number of big name fighters have had notable runs in Superkombat including Ismael Londt, Errol Zimmerman, Benjamin Adegbuyi, Andrei and Bogdan Stoica, and many more.

Other kickboxing/MMA competitions broadcast in the U.S. are Glory, Bellator Kickboxing, and Lion Fight.
