Romanian port operator borrows EUR 27 mln from BCR

Constanta-based port operator Chimpex, part of Swiss agri-business group Ameropa, signed a ten-year loan worth EUR 27 million from BCR, the largest local lender.

The company will use the money to build a new grain terminal with a capacity of 200,000 tons.

The terminal will allow the simultaneous unloading of grains from trains or trucks and their loading in Panamax vessels of up to 63,000 tons. It will have an annual processing capacity of 3.5 million tons of grains.

Chimpex is part of the Ameropa group, a Swiss grain & fertilizer trader, which also owns the biggest fertilizer plant in Romania, Azomures.
