13 January 2017

The 2017 budget law will be sent to the Parliament around January 25, Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu said yesterday.

He asked finance minister Viorel Stefan to have talks with each ministry starting today.

Presidential adviser Cosmin Marinescu said on Wednesday that the fiscal impact of the measures recently adopted by the Government and the Parliament amounts to RON 8.5 billion (EUR 1.9 billion), according to estimates of the Economic and Social Policy Department within the Presidential Administration. This impact will add to the budget deficit of 2.96% estimated in the former government’s budget project.

President Klaus Iohannis and prime minister Sorin Grindeau met on Wednesday. Both stated that the budget deficit should be kept within the limit of 3% of the GDP.
