Romanian pianist named Honorary Associate Artist of UK's Royal Northern College of Music

Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu is one of the five exceptional alumni who have been named Honorary Associate Artists of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in the UK. She is the first pianist who received this distinction.

The Romanian pianist, together with composer Tom Harrold, cellist Mikhail Nemtsov, mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge, and percussionist Le Yu, will fulfill the prestigious new ambassadorial role due to their outstanding achievements after graduation.

From September, all five artists will play an active role in promoting and supporting the College’s strategic initiatives, working with staff and stundets.

On May 7, Alexandra Daricescu will start a tour with the Royal Philharmonic in London and conductors Fabien Gabel and Ben Gernon. The tour will end with an extraordinary concert at Cadogan Hall, he residence of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

30-year-old Alexandra Dariescu graduated from the RNCM in 2008 and has since become one of the most sought after pianists of her generation performing around the world at venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and London’s Wigmore Hall.

In 2013, she gave her debut at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and became the first ever Romanian woman pianist to perform in this prestigious hall. Read more about her here.
