Romanian MPs remove the stress bonus for civil servants

26 April 2017

The Romanian MPs decided yesterday to remove the 50% bonus for neuropsychiatric risk and overload applied to the civil servants’ salaries, following a decision of the Constitutional Court (CCR) from November last year, reports local Profit.ro.

CCR approved the unconstitutionality objection raised by the former Dacian Ciolos Government. The former Government explained that the bonus was "a discriminatory measure towards the staff of other public authorities and institutions, which would create the premises of similar requests”, and its granting was not justified.

Subsequently, the labor, public administration and legal committees of the Parliament suggested the removal of this provision, arguing that it created discrimination compared to other employees paid with public funds.
