Romanian man finds EUR 3,500 at supermarket, gives it to the police

06 December 2016

A 69-year-old man from Iasi, Eastern Romania, found RON 15,900 (some EUR 3,500) at a local supermarket, and did what probably not many people would do: he gave it to the police.

“I asked the people around me if they saw someone, if they know whose money is it. Together with those from the shops nearby, I counted the money. It was RON 15,900. I left my phone number to the people at the store. I waited until 20:00, and, as nobody called, I decided to announce the police,” said Ioan Cernusca, the man who found the money, reports local Mediafax.

He said that he didn’t think of keeping the money for himself, as he didn’t work for them, and “somebody might cry” after this money.

The police officers in Iasi are now trying to identify the person who lost the EUR 3,500.
