Romanian Intelligence Service wants to track spending

19 July 2016

The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) will acquire an IT system to better monitor public spending as well as the activity of individuals.

The system will rapidly discover companies whose shareholders or managers take part in several companies and have criminal records, or individuals who present inconsistencies between declared income and purchased cars, plots, and buildings, reports local Profit.ro.

SRI wants to spend up to EUR 25.6 million, without VAT, for such a system. This needs to be completed by the end of next year. The money will come from the state budget and EU funds.

Implementing such an IT system requires a Big Data platform and a component of advanced analytics, which is an extension of the Big Data platform.
