Romanian healthcare network Regina Maria invests EUR 2 mln in expansion

Regina Maria, the second largest player in the local private medical services market, has purchased the medical center Al-Medica Berlin in Ploiesti this year.

The company has also expanded its portfolio in Bucharest by acquiring the clinic IXIA Medica and by opening a new clinic near the Victoriei Square. In total, the company has invested EUR 2 million this year.

Bucharest remains a center of interest for opening new units, including one in the Dorobanti area, the company said in a statement. Regina Maria currently owns 14 polyclinics in Bucharest.

In 2016, the group acquired Ponderas Academic Hospital, in “one of the most important transactions of the private medical services”, said Fady Chreih, Regina Maria CEO.

In total, Regina Maria carried out six investments last year. It also concluded a EUR 15 million partnership to develop the first private general hospital in Cluj Napoca. In Craiova, it took over the Helios medical center whereas in Timisoara it bought the Dr. Grigoras medical centers.
