Romanian Government supports acquisition of 1,000 electrical cars this year

23 March 2017

Romania’s Government approved yesterday the budget of the Environment Fund and the Environment Fund Administration for this year.

The fund will finance 11 programmes with RON 840 million (EUR 184 million), including the Cash-for-Bangers (Rabla), Rabla Plus, Green House (Casa Verde) programmes, reports local Agerpres.

The Environment Fund should have revenues of about RON 562 million (EUR 123.1 million), said environment minister Daniel Constantin. The rest of the money should come from the Finance Ministry, from the sale of carbon dioxide emissions certificates.

The Government aims to subsidize the acquisition of about 1,000 electrical cars through the Rabla Plus program. Each beneficiary will get about EUR 10,000, double compared to last year when the voucher for the acquisition of a green car amounted to EUR 5,000.

Daniel Constantin announced last week that the eco-bonus of the Cash-for-Bangers program would increase from RON 1,500 (EUR 330) to RON 2,500 (EUR 549) this year. The people who scrap their old cars will get a voucher of RON 6,500 (EUR 1,440) to buy new ones.
