Stanomir shares the award with Christian Cooke and Brad Zoern, according to Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the association which offers the Emmy Awards. This is a first such award for the Romanian film making industry. Stanomir worked as production mixer, while the other two as pre-recording mixer. The Romanian worked on the mini series for three months at the end of 2011, when the History Channel and Castel Film production “Hatfields & McCoys” was shot.
Stanomir was not able to attend the award ceremony last the week-end in Los Angeles as he has been working on another US production, together with Castel Film.
Two other Romanians were nominated at the technical Emmmy awards, Şerban Porupcă, for best artistic director for a TV miniseries, and Adina Bucur, for best costumes for a TV mini series, both for “Hatfields & McCoys”. The technical Emmy awards will be followed by the main Emmy Awards, scheduled for September 23.
The mini-series “Hatfields & McCoys” received a total of 16 nominations, including in the categories “Best TV mini-series,” “Best Actor in a TV miniseries” (Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton), “Best Actress in a TV miniseries” (Mare Winningham) and” Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a TV miniseries”(Tom Berenger).
The TV mini-series was successful in the United States, where the first episode aired on the History Channel on May 28 (Memorial Day), registering an audience of 13.9 million viewers. “Hatfields and MCCoys”, which has three episodes, describes the rivalry between the Hatfield and McCoy families in the early years after the U.S. Civil War.
Filming took place in 2011, mostly in Castel Film Studios in Romania, but also on location in Arges and Brasov, over a period of 13 weeks, during which time Kevin Costner, the main actor, was in Romania.
