Romania’s Agriculture Minister will set up a fund through which the farmers will be able to get micro-loans of up to EUR 50,000 starting this fall to develop the agriculture exploitations they own, according to an emergency ordinance draft published on the ministry’s website.

The fund is created “in order to stimulate the development of the middle class in villages”, the project reads, reports local News.ro.

The fund will be used to grant loans to the farmers who want to invest in agriculture, but whose projects are not eligible to get financing from the National Program for Rural Development. A beneficiary can access a maximum amount of EUR 15,000.

Farmers that want to acquire animals can get loans of up to RON 50,000 (EUR 11,000) per person.
