Romanian voted the best female handball player in the world

Romanian Cristina Neagu, 27, won the Mizuno Female World Handball Player 2015 award following the votes of 19 members of the international jury of handball journalists and visitors on the Handball-Planet.com website.

“Her outstanding performance during the Women’s World Championship 2015 in Denmark, where Romania won the bronze medal, but also TOP quality presented in ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica EHF Champions League winning campaign 2014/2015, with a good start of the new season, were the best recommendation for this prestigious award,” writes Handball-Planet.com.

Neagu got a total of 84 points, surpassing Norway’s Nora Mork (52 points) and Heidi Loke  (49), Serbian Katarina Bulatovic (44), and Montenegrin Jovanka Radicevic (39). The Romanian is the third player in five years to win this award, succeeding Heidi Loke (2011, 2013 and 2014) and Zsuzsanna Tomori (2012).

Cristina Neagu was also voted World Handball Player of the Year in 2015 by the International Handball Federation (IHF), for the second time. She also got this award in 2010.

Cristina Neagu was the best player and top scorer of the 2015 World Women's Handball Championship in Denmark, with 63 goals. She helped Romania's national women's handball team get into the semifinals and win the bronze medal.
