Romanian central bank’s reserves increase by EUR 200 mln in March

04 April 2017

The foreign exchange reserves held by Romania’s National Bank (BNR) rose by EUR 200 million in March reaching almost EUR 34.7 billion, following the issuance of Eurobonds by the Ministry of Finance, according to data released yesterday by BNR.

The foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 34.49 billion at the end of February.

The inflows totaled EUR 852 million in March whereas the outflows amounted to EUR 653 million. A part of the money came from the issuance of Eurobonds on the domestic market in March.

The gold reserve remained at 103.7 tons, but its value went down from EUR 3.94 billion to EUR 3.88 billion, due to the decline in international prices. Thus, Romania’s international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) increased to EUR 38.57 billion.
