Romanian Black Sea resort has similar prices to French Riviera

18 July 2016

A couple that wants to spend a weekend in Mamaia, the most popular resort at the Romanian Black Sea seaside, needs to pay at least EUR 170 for a two-night stay in a three-star hotel, according to Booking.com.

The prices are similar to those in Nice, on the French Riviera coast, reports local Ziarul Financiar.

The prices in Mamaia are over three times higher compared to those at the Bulgarian seaside. A two-night stay in a three-star hotel in the Bulgarian resort Golden Sands costs EUR 56.

“It's the supply-demand ratio that determines hotel tariffs. In Mamaia, demand is much higher than the offer, accommodation infrastructure is limited, there are few hotels that offer quality, hence the high accommodation prices,” said Sorin Ionescu, tourism consultant.
