Romania-based gipsy brass band Fanfara Ciocarlia will perform at the upcoming concert dedicated to the Nobel peace prize winner, which will take place on December 11. The band will join internationally renowned names such as Jennifer Hudson, Seal, Portuguese band OqueStrada, Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør, the Karpe Diem duo and Swedish singer Laleh. The ten Romanians who form the band will share the stage with the presenters, actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Gerard Butler.
The band, based in the village of Zece Prajini in Iasi county, in North – Eastern Romania, is known as the fastest brass band in the world and was discovered in 1996 by a Berlin based sound engineer.
The Romanian brass band won the BBC Radio European music prize and launched eight albums, while having held over 1,200 concerts in its 15 years of activity.
The December 11 event will take place one day after the Nobel peace prize will be awarded in Oslo. This year’s winner is the European Union “for over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe”.
