Romanian actor Marcel Iures, leading role in local HBO production
Romanian actor Marcel Iures (in picture) has been casted as the leading actor in an HBO fiction series which will be produced entirely in Romania. HBO Central Europe has already started shooting the film “In Deriva” (Drifting), which is based on a format already aired in Israel and the US. The script was written and is filmed in Romanian. The local company producing the film is Film Factor.
The film is centered on therapy sessions through the eyes of a successful psychiatrist whose personal and professional life is on the verge of decay.
The Romanian series are based on the Israeli series Be Tipul. The rights were bought by HBO US, which has produced a series under the name “In treatment”, with Gabriel Byrne in the main role, who got the Golden Globe for the best actor in a leading role.
The film will be shoot until August and the Romanian premiere is expected in December on HBO Romania. HBO Romania was launched in 1997 as a pay-TV channel which offered Romanian subtitles. The country manager for HBO Romania is Carmen Harabagiu.
Marcel Iures, one of the best known film and theater actors in Romania, has been playing in movies in the country and abroad. He is known for his role in "The Peacemaker", but also for movies like “Layer Cake”, “Amen”, “Tom Hart's war”, and “The Pirates of the Caribbean 3”, where he played captain Chevalle.
