Romania wants to attract Chinese tourists, but visas are a problem

16 March 2017

Romania and other countries in the region should collaborate to attract Chinese tourists in a circuit of this region of Europe, but the main problem is the long time for granting a visa, tourism minister Mircea Dobre said yesterday, reports local Agerpres.

He added that he had a talk with Chinese officials at the Berlin Tourism Fair.

To attract Chinese tourists, companies should offer tourism packages for several countries in the region.

Dobre also said that he had a talk with the tourism minister in Bulgaria. “We need to attract another two or three countries to prepare a circuit and attract more Asians to Romania,” said the Romanian tourism minister.

The main problem is getting the visas to Romania for the Chinese tourists. The same thing is valid for the tourists in Middle East, who encounter difficulties in getting visas.

“We are in discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on visas, there is a protocol signed, but things are a bit slow with the visas and I don’t understand why,” the Romanian minister added.
