Romania turns back the clocks by one hour this weekend

27 October 2016

Romania will switch to winter time on Sunday morning, October 30. Thus, the clocks will turn back by an hour, 4:00 becoming 3:00.

Romania uses winter time, or the Eastern European Time, as it is known internationally, from end-October until the end of March. The EET is one of the names of UTC+02:00 time zone, 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.

Romania’s neighbors Moldova, Ungaria, Serbia, Bulgaria and Ukraine also switch to the winter time this weekend.

Switching to winter time will not affect the trains' schedule in Romania, according to railway company CFR Calatori.

The trains will leave the stations according to the schedule based on the daylight saving time until the night of October 29/30, 4:00, which will become 3:00, according to a statement from CFR Calatori. On that night, all the passenger trains scheduled to depart from the stations after 4:00 will start their trips according to the new time.

The trains in circulation after 4:00, daylight savings time, will stop for one hour in the stations and will then continue their trips according to the schedule based on the new time.
