Romania holds an official footballing world record, but the it wasn’t set on the pitch – instead it came from the commentary box with Ilie Dobre’s mammoth 31 second ‘gooaaaal’ recorded during a match in 2011. The game was between Voinţa Sibiu and Oţelul Galaţi in September last year and Dobre’s effort beat his previous 27 second personal best recorded in Europa League match.
Ilie Dobre says his efforts top the best Latin America has to offer, where the grito de gol arguably has its spiritual home. Another of Dobre’s greatest hits was a 42 second effort, but this one included a quick breath for extra air, while his 31 second world record was achieved without the need for an oxygen boost.
Ilie Dobre is a famous Romanian football commentator known for the passionate comments and for the very gooooaaaaal shouts. “”I listened soccer matches broadcasted live at radio and Tv in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexic, Spain, Portugal, Italy, England, Germany, Egypt and I noticed that their commentators can’t match my brodacast of a goal,” said Ilie Dobre. He also said he never have had any problems with his voice, simply because he “doesn’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol and cold water.”
