Romania records highest negative inflation in EU in March

Romania recorded the highest negative inflation among the 28 EU member states in March this year compared to March 2015, namely -2.4%.

In February, Romania’s inflation rate reached -2.1%, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

Both in the European Union and the Eurozone, prices stagnated in March after a negative evolution in February. No less than 15 member states recorded negative inflation rates in March, with Romania ranking first.

At the opposite end, the highest annual inflation rates were recorded in Belgium (1.6%), Sweden (1.2%), and Malta (1%).

Compared to February 2015, the inflation rate dropped in 11 member states.
