Bonuses of over EUR 3,000 for the unemployed in Romania who relocate for jobs

06 December 2016

The state will offer two types of bonuses to the unemployed people who relocate from their homes to take on jobs, according to the National Agency for Employment (ANOFM).

The bonuses can reach up to RON 15,500 (EUR 3,440) for the unemployed and up to RON 900 (EUR 200) for employers, reports local Mediafax.

According to ANOFM, the “installation bonus” will be offered to the unemployed who will take on a job located at distances of over 50 km from their home, and they need to change their residence. The “installation bonus” will be offered in two installments, namely 50% when the person changes home for the new job and 50% after 12 months of staying in that job.

The unemployed who change their residence will get RON 12,500 (EUR 2,770). If people are accompanied by their family members, also changing their homes, the bonus will reach RON 15,500 (EUR 3,440).

The other type of bonus is offered to the unemployed who take on a job located more than 12 km away from their residence and covers their commute expenses.

The measures are part of the national workforce mobility plan, which aims to bring people from poor regions, which haven’t benefited from significant investments, such as those living in Eastern Romania, to more developed regions, where employers are confronted with the lack of workforce.
