Romania and Israel will negotiate cutting roaming tariffs

The Prime Ministers of Romania and Israel signed yesterday in Jerusalem a declaration of intent on reducing the international roaming tariffs charged by the telecom operators in the two countries.

The future negotiations will have as reference point the roaming tariffs in the European Union.

Romanian Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu, who is on a visit in Israel, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu committed to negotiate the reduction of roaming tariffs charged by telecom operators in Romania and Israel. After negotiations, they will sign bilateral agreements in this regard.

At present, about 86,200 people living in Israel were born in Romania, according to Israeli official statistics. Besides that, there are other 125,800 people whose families were born in Romania. In total, 212,000 Israeli citizens are connected to Romania.

Moreover, there are numerous Romanians working in Israel.
