Romania invests EUR 105 mln in refurbishing stadiums for Euro 2020

17 October 2016

Romania will refurbish four stadiums with 70,000 seats for the Euro 2020 football championship, according to Manuela Patrascoiu, the director of the National Investment Company.

The four stadiums, which will serve as training grounds for the teams that will come to Bucharest to play at the Euro 2020, will be ready “on time”, she added, reports local Economica.net.

Each seat will cost EUR 1,500, so the total investment will amount to over EUR 105 million. The state will refurbish the Steaua, Dinamo, Rapid, and Arcul de Triumf stadiums.

“Building stadiums is not a waste of money, is a sign of civilization,” Patrascoiu said.

The money will be secured by the Regional Development Ministry. She added that the Government said that the organization of Euro 2020 was a matter of “public interest”.

Bucharest city logo for the European Championship 2020 was launched at the National Arena on Saturday. Bucharest’s National Arena will host four matches at the Euro 2020, which will take place in 13 European cities.
