Romania-Bulgaria-Greece gas corridor to transport 3-5 billion cubic meters

The gas corridor which will interconnect Romania's, Bulgaria's and Greece's gas networks will have a capacity of 3-5 billion cubic meters per year, according to documents published by the Ministry of Energy in Greece and quoted by the Bulgarian portal Novinite. The three countries recently agreed to build a vertical gas corridor as an alternative to the South Stream gas pipeline project. The gas sources for the new vertical corridor will be LNG Revithoussa terminal in Greece and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, which would transport natural gas from the Caspian basin. The European Commission is ready to consider using EU funds to contribute to the “better integration of the energy system of these countries into the overall EU energy framework," said Maros Sefcovic, the Vice President of the European Commission for Energy Union. editor@romania-insider.com
