Romania has over 775,000 people with disabilities

Romania had a number of over 775,300 people with disabilities at the end of June this year, 36.3% of whom had severe disabilities, according to the Labor Ministry.

Of all the people with disabilities, 97.7% live with their families or alone whereas 2.3%, or some 18,000 people, live in state institutions for adult people with disabilities, reports local Agerpres.

The rate of people with disabilities within Romania's population amounted to 3.5% at the end of June.

The largest number of people with disabilities was recorded in Bucharest, namely over 62,000 people, followed by the Prahova county, with some 37,000 people. The lowest number was recorded in the Covasna county, with some 5,700 people.

The number of people over 50 represented 68.8% of the total number of adult people with disabilities.
