Road carriers and authorities in Romania reach agreement on RCA tariff

16 September 2016

Romania’s Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) announced yesterday that it reached an agreement with the organizations of road carriers, whose representatives protested in front of the Government.

The authorities have agreed to freeze the reference tariff for mandatory insurance policies RCA for big trucks at RON 7,500 (EUR 1,700) for the next six months. Following the agreement, road carriers accepted to leave the Victoriei Square, where the protest took place.

The Government announced on Wednesday that it would freeze the RCA tariffs via an emergency ordinance. Organizations of road carriers decided to go on with the protests because the Government didn’t mention the level at which the RCA policies would be frozen.

The RCA policies for big truck reached some RON 20,000 (almost EUR 4,500) and the road carriers were asking for a tariff of RON 4,907 (EUR 1,100).
