Report: Over 3 million Romanians work abroad

Over three million Romanians have moved abroad for work, according to a report of the United Nations (UN) quoted by TransferGo.

Romania has thus become the fourth biggest source of immigrants in the EU.

TransferGo data show that more than 15,000 Romanians have sent money in the country in the last year through the TransferGo platform.

According to the World Bank, about four million Romanians left the country by the end of last year, and the total amount of money they transfer to the country in one year reaches USD 3.2 billion. The main countries from where Romanians send money back to the country are Italy (USD 937 million), Spain (USD 740 million), and Germany (USD 422 million).

TransferGo was established four years ago. Since then, the platform registered transactions worth more than EUR 280 million.

In Romania, TransferGo has been active since June 2015.
