Renault launches first Dacia Duster with dual clutch transmission

30 September 2016

The efficient double-clutch (EDC) automatic transmission, the most advanced gearbox produced by Renault, will also be available on Dacia Duster models. Renault group made the announcement at the Paris Motor Show yesterday.

The new 6-speed EDC automatic gearbox combines the comfort and smoothness of an automatic gearbox with fuel economy and low CO2 emissions similar to those of a manual box, according to Renault.

EDC incorporates hill start assist. When moving away on a slope, the EDC control unit holds the brakes for sufficient time to allow the driver to apply the throttle before the vehicle rolls back. The Duster equipped with EDC transmission is the 4x2 version powered by the dCi 110 S&S engine.

The Duster is one of the most popular models produced by Romanian auto maker Dacia after Renault took over the company. Since its revival in 2004, Dacia has sold more than 4 million vehicles, mainly in Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Dacia set a new sales record in the first six months of 2016, selling more than 391,000 units, up 7.3% year-on-year. The Dacia brand is sold in 44 countries.
