bus arad Public transport in Arad, Romania gets ready for EUR 23 mln EBRD cash boostThe European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering providing a new loan of up to EUR 23 million for modernization of the public transport system in Arad, Romania, as part of a wider initiative in the city to restructure the public transport, according to information released by the EBRD.

This project will comprise two stages, according to the EBRD. First a EUR 12 million loan to buy seven modern trams, modernize the main depot infrastructure, and introduce an e-ticketing system for public transport, while the second EUR 11 million chunk will be used to re-finance an existing loan, on the basis of the loan agreement dated 16 May 2009.
