Pro TV’s turnover accounts for almost half of the Romanian media market

Romanian media company Pro TV, which owns the biggest TV station in Romania, had a turnover of EUR 143 million last year, which stands for almost half of the total turnover of the local media market. Its net profit reached EUR 23.5 million.

Intact group, which owns the Antena TV stations as well as Radio ZU, ranked second. It posted a total turnover of EUR 100 million last year, according to Camelia Voiculescu, the group’s majority shareholder, reports local Hotnews.ro.

Within the Intact media group, Antena TV Group, which doesn’t include the TV news station Antena 3, saw a turnover of EUR 60 million last year and a net loss of EUR 3.8 million. Antena 3 had revenues of EUR 16 million.

Media Camina, which includes Radio ZU, recorded a turnover of EUR 6.6 million and a profit of over EUR 500,000.

Turkish media group Dogan Media International (Kanal D) posted a turnover of EUR 20.2 million and a net profit of EUR 1.4 million. RTV Satellite Net, the company which operates the Romania TV news channel, posted a profit of EUR 3.7 million at a turnover of EUR 4.7 million.

The total advertising spending in Romania went up by 6% in 2015 compared to 2014, reaching EUR 332 million, according to the 2016 Media Fact Book. The TV ad spending went up by 7% last year, to EUR 212 million.
