President of Romanian lender Banca Carpatica resigns after only two months

27 June 2016

Ionut Patrahau, 46, has resigned from his position as president of the local lender Banca Carpatica, two months after being appointed. In April, he replaced Belgian CEO Johan Gabriels, who had managed to conclude Carpatica’s merger with Patria Bank, the former Nextebank.

Patrahau has also decided to give up his position in the bank’s board of directors, which he held since 2013.

His banking career took off in 1998 when he became general director within the local investment division of the National Bank of Greece. Another important benchmark was becoming vice-president and coordinator of the Corporate & Commercial Banking division at the local lender Banca Transilvania, in 2002. He left Banca Transilvania in 2008.

After that, he was CEO of local private healthcare network Regina Maria for about a year, from 2012 to 2013.
