21 October 2016

British Prime Minister Theresa May said that she would “personally” get involved so that there are not “incidents” about the Romanians in Great Britain before or after Brexit, according to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

Iohannis had a bilateral meeting with Theresa May in Brussels yesterday. He said that the relationship with Great Britain is very important for Romania, especially due to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

“I’ve realized that both the Mrs. Prime Minister and I wish to have clear negotiations,” the Romanian president added.

Iohannis also said that Romania would negotiate “with great aplomb” the fate of the Romanians in the UK.
