Orange Romania launches integrated telecom services in urban areas

06 September 2016

Orange Romania, the biggest local mobile carrier, launched the Orange Home integrated service packages in all the cities.

The bundles include mobile voice and internet services, fixed broadband internet connection via fiber optics of up to 1 Gbps, and digital cable TV. The package also includes solutions for monitoring and controlling the home.

The company initially launched these services in Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, and Timisoara, but has now expanded them to over 90 Romanian cities, including the capital Bucharest.

Orange, which doesn’t own a fixed internet infrastructure, has been able to provide fixed internet services after a partnership with competitor Telekom Romania. In exchange, Orange granted Telekom access to its 4G network.

According to statistics, of the 7.5 million households in Romania, 94.4% have TV sets, 51.8% have fixed internet connections, and 50% have both fixed and mobile internet connections. By 2020, about 75% of the households in Romania should have fixed internet connections.

“By expanding our services, we offer our clients the possibility to choose one supplier to integrate technology in their day to day life,” said Liudmila Climoc, Orange Romania CEO.

Orange had close to 9.85 million mobile clients and revenues of EUR 476 million in the first half of this year.
